What is flood insurance?

It is important to note that flood insurance is a supplemental insurance policy that can be added to any property coverage like home, commercial, condo, or even rental insurance. These standard policies do not often cover damage caused by water, so without flood insurance, you will be forced to cover these costs out of your pocket.

What types of disasters cause flooding?

Several types of natural disasters can come through Ohio and cause unwanted flooding. Severe thunder and rainstorms that last for days or drop lots of rain at once can cause flash flooding. When too much water is dropped in one area, the water has nowhere to go and can flood an area that otherwise would not flood. Winter storms also bring a lot of precipitation. The areas by the rivers and low-lying tend to suffer the most, experiencing the flooding first.

Flood insurance will cover any structure that retains water damage on the property. Also, any personal property that was located in these structures and damaged like the following will be replaced:
